Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale is an American professional basketball athlete who plays for the Dallas Wings of the Women's National Basketball Association. The basketball team she played for was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, after which she was drafted by the Wings as the 5th overall selection of the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was a Milwaukee Wisconsin native born to Yolanda Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale (26 years) and Dare Ogunbowale (19 years) are her twin brothers. Since she was the youngest of her siblings, she was also the most loved of her parents. Her father Gregory was a soldier in the Nigerian Army for quite some duration. Ogunbowale's family is with ties to the sports world. Her mother Yolanda played softball for DePaul as did her brother Dare. Dare also plays soccer. Apart from her fame, she has won numerous honors from her time at school. Arike graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located in her hometown. While at high school, she also played three seasons of varsity soccer. Ogunbowale's exceptional abilities led to her team winning stunning games numerous times. The high school season she played in was complete with 73 wins, 1,477 career points and 739 career rebound. Ogunbowale played during her first 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship and won Gold medals there. In July 2014 Ogunbowale was chosen as a player on the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also chosen to the ACC All-Freshman Team for her first time in a collegiate game. Kobe Bryant even thanked her for launching a series of huge shots in the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale, despite being relatively new to the basketball game, has made herself the best player.
